What to Bring

Coming to the tropics is always super fun. No wetsuits to pack, the excitement of finding your shorts no longer fit you and it’s a must to get a new bikini. All good but there are some essentials.

Block

So firstly good sun protection. There are tons of good products out there like http://agsbrands.com/aloe-gator-suncare/  but do read your labels carefully. Some good old fashioned pure zinc http://zinka.com/ works well too for nose and lips. Lips and curry don’t mix .. worth knowing.

Hats

Really a good idea and even a typical surf hat can be a must for some http://www.surffcs.com/shop/surf-in-water-apparel/wet-bucket

Shorts and Bikinis, (and the one piece debate!)

Make sure that shorts you bring are really surfing and not walk shorts. Seams can rub on the inside of legs so good quality seamless shorts really help http://www.ripcurl.com/us/shop/women/boardshorts/?page=1 and http://www.ripcurl.com/us/shop/men/boardshorts/ . However.. we really like the cheat of brining a pair of lycra under shorts that make all shorts comfortable to wear . As long as they go down to the end of your shorts you’re on a winner http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/mens-lycra-shorts

If you’re going for a bikini do make sure it’s good for surfing and not going to get pulled off with every wave https://hiveswimwear.com/  and also if it’s a once piece then a comfortable one is a must.

Rash Vests

When you’re with us you will be given a super high quality Aleeda http://aleeda.com.au/ rash vest but bringing your own for free surfs is a great idea too. Make sure it’s a 50 + UV protection like ours are. https://www.surfdome.com/Mens_Rash_Vests-368/ and https://www.surfdome.com/Womens_Rash_Vests-496/  Buy for the future.  Some of you may get sore ribs so a 1 mm vest can really help in these circumstances. This type can help for men http://www.quiksilver.com/1mm-pullover-vest-fullsuit-gr-AQYVS00002.html  and there are tons of women’s products out there https://www.surfstitch.com/category/surf/womens-wetsuit-vests

Booties

It’s not vital to bring wet suit or reef boots for the surf spots we use. They are deep reef and beaches where there should be no contact with rocks or reef. Most of the breaks here are like that and only a few folks wear boots. However if you think you must the do just bring a light reef boots https://www.swimoutlet.com/p/xcel-infiniti-1mm-split-toe-reef-neoprene-bootie-48427/

Water  Bottles

When on course days we can keep you refilled with water but let’s reduce our impact by bringing reusable water bottles that you can then take back home.

Boards

As you know by now we have an amazing selection of boards but we also encourage surfers to bring their own and of course you can store with us and we help you pack when you leave. But do tell us what you’re bringing. We need to know  Name, Make and Model, length, thickness, width and then we can really work with you. You may find we have you more than covered and you don’t need to bring your board. Most long hauls to Sri Lanka have 30 K allowances so your board goes on as just baggage.  Buy Tropical wax of course but we have wax here too but you may have a favourite. You will need to take off your old wax before coming please.

Please do ask further questions about what to bring…
